My Story

How I teach: I teach intuitively and heart led. I figure out the learning style best suited for each student, meet them where they are, and design each week's lesson plan accordingly. I apply what we work on in lessons to everyday skills we need to succeed in life. Such as critical thinking, practical application, problem solving, diaphragmatic breathing, resetting the central nervous system, Interhemispheric integration etc. I also have students who just want to brush up on skills, learn piano to play in general and the like.

My Musical Journey:

Music found me. I started playing piano at the age of 13, my grandmother heard me tinkering on her keyboard and bought me one. 2.5 years later, (yes I went to college at 16, I started playing a few months before my 14th birthday) I was standing in line in the college library with my mom, talking about a song I was learning with my teacher. I felt someone tap on my shoulder, I turn around and this girl told me I should audition for the college's piano program. Totally not what I was standing in line for! I was there to buy books for the art class I enrolled in. However, her words stuck with me. That same day I called my piano teacher, the college, and set up a date for an audition. Mind you, I didn't have a song prepared and it was only a week before my audition. I walked into that room with a couple of songs, basic music theory knowledge, and some scales. I played what I had and answered their questions. The panel of judges deliberated for a few minutes, then head of the piano department walked out. She told me I was accepted and that she wanted me as her student. The following year, I taught piano at my best friend's church summer camp. That was the beginning of my teaching journey. I've been a concert and competition pianist, I've played gigs, and millionaire parties. Still, teaching and being a guide is what I am meant to do. I have FULLY embraced it. YOU will reap the rewards of it.
